Went down to the closest dealer today.  It was a small scooter shop in San Clemente. They had 2 C5 (Teal and Red) and two G5 (Black and Green).  The employee I spoke to was nice .....

He started up a G for me.  Both bikes are definately much sexier in person.

Did you test ride the G5 ?

The bikes were really packed in and I didn't have time for him to dig the bikes out. :(

Besides being convient the paper catalog has items in it that are not on the website.
I can break it better,,,,at night, in the rain, on the trail,, 20 miles from nowhere.

I was hoping that is what he meant on the accessories,  I already got a list started based on that digital catalog and it would be so much easier to just pick the bike up as new with those already on it.  I will have to order the paper catalog...

Will take pics today of the lowered Military next to a standard C5.
The shocks are shorter non-resevoir models and there is a spring kit to lower the seat.
This brings it down about 2-3 inches. The weight of the rider effects how much due to the seat spring windings.
I havent crawled under it but it seems easy enough to lower the seat via shortening the springs. The seat is REALLY cushy so Im sure some careful trimming with the wife's electric carving knive would work. Pop rivit or screw the seat cover material to get the nice look.

You may want to use a disc sander or grinder to gently sweep across the seat foam and shape/sculpt it.  Carving knives tend to be too aggressive.

Uh yea, that's what I meant.
Gently sweep across the foam chopping great slices out of the seat, THEN do a nice job of smoothing it out and rounding the edges.  I use a sharpie to give myself a rough idea.  :-[

Cool !

If its not too much trouble could you please post a pic or two of the seat foam as you go about modding it ?

Thanks,
Ice

Check some of the Indian sites, those guy are scupting C5 seats.
On the eighth day God created the C5, and it was better looking than anything on the planet.

Here are too poor pictures showing a low and a std.
The seat is about 2 inches closer to the fender unladen. the fender to ground is about 1-1.5  inches lower without rider.
With a 165lb. rider its about 2.5"-3.0" with shocks set on full soft.

Thanks for the pics.  I like the covered shocks.  What does the rider think of the mod?
