yup thats work too. Make sure you remove the obstructive 'cat' from the head pipe while you have the silencer off. It's an easy job to press or cut out. You'll have to swap pilot and main jets when you're done. about $10 in jets.

That would be the "classic exhaust"? I can't spend $179 on that. I almost got a small one from JC Whitney for $20 when my muffler fell off but I finally managed a decent weld job on the old one. Now I'm thinking maybe I'll cut some of the length out of it and weld it back together. That way I'd be maintaining the "patina" too. A brand new muffler might make the the rest of the bike look a bit shoddy......

awesome patina and stance. Do yourself a favor though and pick up a classic short bottle exhaust. You'll like the bike even more.

Thanks. I like the bike--I bought it used so I can't take much credit for its looks--except for lowering the seat. I wish the previous owner had chaged the oil once or twice in 6000 miles.......

Cool. I like that "Made like a gun" decal better on the toolbox than the stock winged "Bullet 500" decal.
