Inner rear mudguard

Description: Not sure what to call it, it the part of the rear mudguard that is bolted iin front of the rear wheel. I took mine out today shortened it and welded it to the rear fender, it now is closer to the wheel and comes down in front of the swingarm pivot. I cut of the tab coming back from the transmission in an effort to clean up that space. I plug welded the holes where the coil and rectifier used to mount also.

Great tip. I like your idea.
 Do we call the old part a mud guard extension ?
I was going to use a mud flap.
