B5 and 30" inseam?
« on: September 08, 2011, 06:20:18 PM »
Hey everyone,

I read some posts about inseam as I was reading about lowering the bikes.  I'm interested in a B5 and I'm 5'6" 150lbs and have a 30" inseam.  Is it fair to say with proper shocks and a lower solo seat I'll be able to get both feet flat on the ground?

Maybe I'll need some boots.

Assuming the B5 is the same height as the G5, you should be ok on the stock bike. I have 29" inseam and can flat foot my G5 fine. I wear engineer boots. The seat squashes down gradually too, so will get lower (seating foam loses around 8% per year I was told when I bought a chair last year)

I have about a 27" inseam, (don't get called "Squatty Body" for nuttin ;D), but I can still reach the ground, not quite flat footed but a hell of a lot closer then I was on the Triumph Scrambler! I've sat on B5s and they seem to be just a hair taller and the seat seems harder. But I wouldn't have any trouble riding it.
Maybe the seat will soften up and come down a little, but with a 30" inseam, you should have no problems.

Trouble with thick boots is getting your foot around the shifter... do they make a heel-toe shifter?

I am 5' 4" and on the stock B5 could not get flat footed.

Temporarily I "modified" the stock seat by removing the front mount rubber spacer and bending the middle mounts to more of a "C" shape. This made a huge difference.

Eventually I did this and with the un-sprung solo seat can now get both feet on the ground easily:

You have another option, and that is to move the footpegs back one or two notches on the hex mounting they're attached to.  My dealer sets them to the forward position, one past the top setting.  Mine are now set in the top setting.

I am 5'3 and have about a 25" inseam so I slammed my C and with my boots on canput them flat on the ground !

Mounted shorter Hagon shocks and seat to the frame -

Nice when you stop and the pavement is lower on both sides or not even you dont put your foot down and end up reaching to touch,

I moved the shifter up one notch on the splined shaft. Works for me.
