Magoo -

A simple round reflector might be my first choice, but another option you may wish to consider is something like this...

1972 Honda CB350 twin - sold
1976 Honda GL1000 Goldwing - sold
1996 BMW R1100RT - sold
2005 BMW R1200RT - sold
2011 Vespa GTS 300
2013 Royal Enfield C5 Military
2014 Honda CTX700N DCT

Solved...thanks!
I ordered the little brass badge from Hitchcocks anyway when I bought the heat shield, but I think the badge would go walking pretty quickly if I'm parked up in the city for any length of time. Punks with screwdrivers...
So I'll stick with the reflector for safety reasons as well as aesthetics.

I agree - I think the small reflector sets it all off really well. Is the rear headlight unit the Thunderbird one that Hitchcocks sell? I may have to order one as seeing this has made me realise how ugly the large black standard mount is.

Yeah it was Greenchilli.
As mentioned, you'll need the indicators too as they come separate.
Have to say though, Hitchcocks' service was spot on. A little pricey (British pounds conversion hurts!) but packaged and delivered to Australia within a week! Things take longer to get from Vic to WA than they did from the UK!
No reason that shouldn't apply to NZ too :)

Good looks and a plugged hole. Who could ask for anything more?
Rather than have a homeless person for the holidays, I decided to stick with ham.

That sounds so wrong, my mind is always in the gutter.

After too many weeks of not riding the weather let up a little and I got to ride into work.  Pretty cold, about as cold as I'd like for riding, but it was great to get out and take a spin.

Ugh!  Great ride in, lousy ride home.  I stopped along the way for some groceries.  I started up again just fine but as I was heading home I noticed the voltmeter dropping low and what sounded like a little extra noise from the engine.  It was still running and felt mostly ok so I figured I'd scoot the last few miles home.  When I turned it off the starter was running and kept running.

Turned it on and off, thumbed the starter, it kept going.  I pulled off one of the trigger leads from the solenoid, still going.  I quickly opened the battery and removed one of the leads.  No smoke, nothing melting.  The starter was a bit hot and the battery when I measured it was down to 11.5V.  At least nothing was smoking or burning hot.

So either there's a short, the starter button is stuck on, or (most likely) lawn tractor solenoids don't belong on motorcycles.  :(

The battery is on the charger, so I think it will recover just fine.  I'll order a new solenoid and hope for the best.  Oh well, at least the weather was nice today.

I went out and tested the solenoid, it seems a little flaky.  Hopefully I can get a new one and I'll be on my way again.

Cold here today as are most east coast states. Only able to look fondly at my Enfield - Nothing need doing on it. So I put a fresher grounded power cord on a vintage pedestal grinder. Now it works without fear of shocks or shorts, has its own light, & has become a devoted metal polishing station. Even though cold in the workshop, I find that attention maintaining tools, to be an industrious, absorbing activity on bad days. Getting my hands dirty, & positive accomplishment always leaves me feeling very content, especially when things turn out well, & lead to even more future pleasant work.
Best Wishes, Craig McClure

I got to ride a bit today, which was awesome!  Rode in near 80F weather to a nice place to meet some friends for drinks and cigars on the patio.  My little '02 was admired by all...
